Overview

Microsoft renamed Azure Active Directory to Microsoft Entra ID. Pomerium still uses azure as the identity-provider configuration key. Use the Microsoft Entra ID integration guide for setup instructions.

Microsoft changed the product name. Pomerium keeps the azure provider key for configuration compatibility and uses Microsoft Entra ID as an OpenID Connect identity provider.

How it works

Use Microsoft Entra ID as the current product name.

Keep azure as the Pomerium provider configuration key.

Use the current Microsoft Entra ID integration page for application registration, callback, tenant, claim, and directory-sync details.

Example

A team that searches for Azure Active Directory can use the current Microsoft Entra ID integration guide. An existing Pomerium configuration can still use the azure provider key.

Considerations

  • Microsoft Entra ID sign-in and Pomerium Enterprise directory sync are separate flows.

Sources and official resources

  • Use Microsoft Entra ID as the identity provider for Pomerium through OpenID Connect.

  • Connect a compatible OpenID Connect provider to Pomerium with discovery, authorization-code sign-in, identity claims, and route policy.

  • Use Okta as Pomerium's OpenID Connect identity provider, apply user and group claims to route policy, and add Enterprise directory sync when needed.
